PROBLEM STATEMENT

In this event Participants have to design a plumbing system and drainage network of building.

Register
    Round-1:
  • In this round dimensions of the pipe system will be checked. The feasibility, efficiency and economic considerations of the selected pipe system will be verified.
  • Round-2:
  • In this round discharge from the outlets will be measured.
  • Round-3:
  • In this round time required to empty the whole drainage system will be measured.
  • Each team should consist of Maximum 3 members.
  • Discharge will be measured by collecting water in a measuring tank below the setup.
  • The participants have to explain the planning to the judges on the day of event.
  • The pipe system must be accommodated within the dimension of arena given.
  • Final decision lies with Core committee of Footprints X7.

  • Participants will have to draw the line plan of the building showing the positions of all the lavatory fixtures on A2 sheet (i.e. half-imperial sheet) along with the water supply and drainage system layout (pipe system) as per the given data.
  • The planning of the building should be either drawn on a sheet or in the form of a print out with accurate dimensions.
  • The building will be of three storey and the area of the building will be 1*1 m^2.
  • The height of the the building will be 1.5m
  • participants are free to use any of the plumbing system out of four: 1) two pipe system 2) one pipe system 3)single stack system 4)single stack partially ventilated system.
  • each floor should have 4 inlet pipes connecting to their respective outlets and then finally connected to main outlet pipe.
  • Pipe System:
  • A pipe system should reach every place where it is needed.
  • Pipe system must be designed for 1m*1m *1.5m arena.
  • All the pipes and pipe fittings [i.e. elbow, TEE, reduces, etc.] must be strictly of PVC.
  • The pipes connecting 4 inlets with their respective 4 outlets should be transparent pipe(Same Rule applied for all the floors).
  • Pipe fittings which can vary the discharge like valves, taps, etc. will strictly not be considered at connections.
  • The design of pipe system should be such that there is minimum head loss.
  • The participants can bring the components of the pipe system and assemble it on the day of the event within the given time limit or can bring it assembled.
  • Overhead tank and inlet pipe, whose position and dimension as described below, will be provided by the core committee of FootPrints X7.
  • Inlet pipe provided by Core Committee of FootPrints: Dimension - 0.5 inch, And considering ground floor as base, the first floor inlet would be at 35cm ,2nd inlet would be at 80cm and 3rd inlet would be at 125cm.
  • A Valve at the end of main outlet pipe, which will connect all the pipes from fixtures will be provided by the core committee of footprints x7.
  • The main sewer or gutter will also be provided by the core committee of footprints x7.
  • The pipe network should be closed circuit i.e water coming from inlet pipes, provided by Core Committee should reach out to the gutter from all the floors.
  • Elevation change and gradients are allowed in the pipe system as per requirements of the design network.
  • Diameter of pipe of all the fixtures should be of 0.5 inch.
  • Diameter of Outlet pipe(connecting fixtures) used by participants can be varied between 0.5 to 1.5 inches.
  • Participants can provide water proofing using teflon tape only.
  • Pipe network should be self-supporting [supports for elevated pipe can be provided if necessary].
  • Participants can bring flexible pipes to attach inlet pipe and pipe for the fixtures.
